Hair Care for Beginners: Pomade Hair

There is a lot to learn when you go into the world of cosmetology and yes, you will learn about different styles, cuts, colors, the chemistry and how to work with individual hair types. But there is one thing you can never learn enough about, and that is different hair styles with different products.

Pomade is a product that has become somewhat of a taboo in society. Not many guys know about its existence although it works wonderes. Pomade hair is something that takes time to adjust to, for both your hair and the hands that sculpt your hairstyle.

It takes baby steps when introducing your hair to pomade. It is important that you start slowly, you want to add a little (a dot on your palm) per day.    A lot of people don’t understand that your hair and scalp need time to adjust to new products. When you start adding products or oil to your hair without allowing it time to adjust. Often times people think they are allergic when their scalp and hair react negatively to new products, but the bottom line is when you transition to pomade hair products it just takes time.

Using an oil product on your hair can have both positive and negative effects. Obviously this is something that will make your skin, oily and when your scalp has products on it, it does smother your skin and hair, not allowing it to breathe properly. Pomade hair products are great for design and sculpt, but it needs to be washed every other day at least. It is almost an art to make sure it's washed enough, but not too much. Every other day, is acceptable and good for your hair and scalp.

If you're new to pomade, you definitely have to start off with a water-based pomade since it's a lot lighter on the hair an scalp than oil-based pomade.
